Cycling Race in the Ruhr

The city of Bochum plays host to an annual “come one, come all” cycling race with accompanying events on one day during the middle of the summer.
Several races take place on the inner city circuit, which has a total length of 1.6 kilometres. Professional cyclists provide terrific entertainment as do amateurs who join in the fun and take part in numerous races. In fact, over 500 take part during the day.
While enthusiasts of bikes come for the excitement of the challenges on the course, many more attend to take delight the marvellous festivities. A true experience.
The Ruhr holds a long tradition of cycling races, with the first one recorded long ago in 1926 in Dortmund. The six day race events that developed over many years eventually became history and Bochum leapt into the fold.

MOVIES IN RUHR
Original language movies are popular among expats living across the Ruhr Metropolis. Films are screened regularly in English original with subtitles, known as OmU and without, portrayed as OV. A wide variety of cinemas or movie theatres can be found, both large and small.
HIKING IN RUHR
Many open spaces entice hikers into the surrounding countryside. Try heading out to wonderful hillsides and woodlands or reclaimed industrial areas. The Ruhr region also offers pathways and trail around impressive lakes or former important waterways.
Staying in touch and getting together with others living in a similar situation can be important. Expat groups in social media are highly valuable sources for connecting. Socialising in the Ruhr Metropolis can include events, international clubs or heading for a popular spot to meet international residents.
