STREET ART IN THE RUHR
Cities across the globe reveal statements, opinions and talents of artists on walls and house frontages of many streets. Some locations see transitional images and elements, depictions of intricate stories, while others experience phases of intense activity Definition, acceptance or rejection and the joy of graffiti are also constantly in flow amongst pedestrians and audiences.
Many fine examples of street art can be found tucked away in residential side streets and more openly on massive house frontages or bridges across the Ruhr Metropolis. Both rogue and sponsored illustrations are shown by many creative and talented artists.
Aggressive graffiti has mostly outlived its day in neighbourhoods across the region, so owners of property or vehicles can sleep more peacefully. Meanwhile the enormous canvas of the streets has become accepted and harmonious. Considering the street art of other eras, sculptures are widespread too.

Cycling in the Ruhr Metropolis can be enjoyable and most rewarding. Bike paths criss cross the whole of the region and weave their way across most urban areas. Hop on a bicycle to discover quieter city districts or nearby villages. Try riding along the banks of local rivers, in wilder natural spaces or the open meadows of outlying regions.
Original language movies are popular among expats living across the Ruhr Metropolis. Films are screened regularly in English original with subtitles, known as OmU and without, portrayed as OV. A wide variety of cinemas or movie theatres can be found, both large and small.
