CONSULAR IN DÜSSELDORF

The state of North Rhine Westphalia, NRW, is an extremely powerful centre of commerce and trade. This equates to a good reason for diplomatic ties to be formed with NRW by many countries. The fact that people of many nationalities have been attracted to the region for decades is another aspect.

The big six comprised of Britain, France, The Netherlands, the USA, China and Japan are traditionally well represented and offer various services. Nowadays, expat citizens of Consulates in the nearby state capital Düsseldorf are lower on the list of priorities than representation and trading interests.

Other consulates and honorary consulates present in the state at the time of writing are Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, Congo, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Estonia, Gambia, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, India, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Korea, Latvia, Liberia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Maldives, Mali, Morocco, Macedonia, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Nepal, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sweden. Switzerland, Senegal, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Suriname, Swaziland, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay.

Especially honorary representations are normally much smaller if not less important for those nationalities. Representatives can be found through the Federal Foreign Office.

SERVICE IN THE RUHR

The service environment in Germany is extremely different to that in, say, the US or the UK. Customer experience is defined both by a mix of personal attitudes and the ability to interact with others. Also a result of social tradition and a few decades of history.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN RUHR

The public transport system in Ruhr is extensive, safe and normally efficient. A dense network of trams above and below ground as well as buses serve the cities and suburbs. Links via the local and S-Bahn train systems interconnect many neighbouring communities.
