With and catchment population of over five million, it may come as no surprise that amusement parks have been built in the Ruhr Metropolis over the last few decades.

MOVIE PARK BOTTROP
The Movie Park in Bottrop invites visitors to enter a magnificent, dreamlike world of film. A feel of Hollywood in the Ruhr Metropolis offers seven themed areas for families to enjoy.
Besides the Hollywood street and studio sets, New York and famous old west, many other attractions are presented. Nickland provides fun for the youngest, while numerous funfair rides promise to raise the adrenaline for many, many more.
LEGOLAND OBERHAUSEN
Great discoveries attract expat families to LegoLand in Oberhausen, Ruhr such as how building blocks are created from coloured granules. Beyond the factory tour, many exciting and inviting zones await creative minds and able hands.
Head for pirate island, meet up with new friends, join Merlin or create city landscapes. Engage in a variety of activities with these famous, multi-generational and inspiring pieces of plastic.
SEA LIFE OBERHAUSEN
Discover an enormous and fascinating underwater world at SEA LIFE in Oberhausen, Ruhr with some 20,000 ocean-dwellers in 50 huge aquaria. Many creatures are on the endangered list and have been rescued or been born and bred as part of conservation projects.
One impressive feature includes the underwater tunnel with views of sharks, ray and turtles. The largest shark nursery in Germany also presents a recreated mangrove forest.
Original language movies are popular among expats living across the Ruhr Metropolis. Films are screened regularly in English original with subtitles, known as OmU and without, portrayed as OV. A wide variety of cinemas or movie theatres can be found, both large and small.
