KINDERGARDENS IN RUHR
The opportunity for young children to experience social contacts from an early age can be priceless. So too the ability for mothers to occupy their time in other ways. Both conservative and socialist state governments throughout Germany have been tackling the expensive task of universal coverage for many, many years. Unfortunately not well enough to date, including in the Ruhr Metropolis.
Although legislation declares kindergardens a universal right, there are too few places for infants in the Ruhr. English language options are available at international schools in the region. They are IS Ruhr International School in Essen and St Georges in Duisburg. ISD, International School of Düsseldorf in the state capital and ISR International School on the Rhine in Neuss are also nearby.
IS RUHR KINDERGARDEN
IS Ruhr is located in Essen in the heart of the Ruhr Metropolis. Here children of kindergarten age between three and six years benefit from a stimulating, engaging and challenging environment. IS Ruhr believe that inquiry is a powerful tool to learn about the world around us. Their early years curriculum balances learning through play, directed teacher guidance and the provision of carefully planned learning experiences. Classes are taught in English.
ST GEORGES EARLY YEARS
The curriculum of St Georges is based on the British National Curriculum. Their Pre-Nursery and Nursery classes reflect the importance of providing a broad range of opportunities designed to give children the best possible start in life. Pupils in the early years curriculum start to explore and discover the world in more depth, and begin to develop key knowledge and skills that accompany them on their learning journey.
ISD EARLY YEARS PROGRAMME
The belief that every child should be supported to flourish, whatever their abilities, interests or needs may be, is at the heart of everything we do at ISD. At the same time, we recognise that children learn most effectively when they are free to be imaginative and encouraged to connect with their passions. Including expat youngsters from Ruhr. These values are central to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), which serves as our curriculum framework. No matter what it is your child loves, or how they prefer to learn, they will discover a caring, supportive and exciting learning environment at ISD.
ISR KINDERGARDEN
Kindergarden children are taught in English and have regular German classes. Through such experience, the multilingual school environment at ISR in Neuss near Düsseldorf offers students a chance to be exposed to different cultures and languages. Cultural understanding and tolerance is thus fostered from an early age. Parents are encouraged to be an active participant where possible in the classroom too.
