The light festival, Lichterfest, has been held in Dortmund for well over half a century. Every year this spectacle is traditionally held during the latter summer months.

During early evening people gather in the Westfalenpark to experience live music, children’s fireworks as well as the region’s largest display and various entertainment acts. The light festival offers a magnificent evening full of wonder for the whole family.

Strings of lights some six kilometres long as well as almost one hundred thousand lights and lamps of varying shapes and sizes form the major attractions of the event. And, as darkness arrives, a climax in the form of the impressive firework display accompanied by synchronised music wraps up an intense evening.
